We are pleased to welcome comprehensive ophthalmologist Dr. David Greenburg to Kentucky Eye Institute (KEI).
Dr. Greenburg brings more than two decades of military service and clinical leadership to KEI, providing comprehensive medical and surgical eye care with expertise in cataract surgery, refractive surgery and advanced laser procedures. His surgical experience includes LASIK, PRK, implantable collamer lens insertion, pterygium excision, blepharoplasty, ectropion repair, YAG capsulotomy, selective laser trabeculoplasty, laser retinopexy and intraocular injections.
Before specializing in ophthalmology, Dr. Greenburg was board certified in internal medicine and served as a primary care physician, hospitalist, medical educator and researcher while on active duty with the U.S. Army. During his 22-year military career, he held several leadership positions, including chief of refractive surgery at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Germany, chief of the Department of Surgery at Womack Army Medical Center and chief of ophthalmology service at Tripler Army Medical Center. He was awarded the Bronze Star Medal and Combat Medical Badge for providing medical care to wounded soldiers while deployed to Afghanistan.
Dr. Greenburg earned his Doctor of Medicine from Emory University School of Medicine, a Master of Public Health from the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences and a bachelor’s degree in biopsychology from Transylvania University. He completed residency training in internal medicine and ophthalmology at Walter Reed and has also served on the faculty of the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
