Aditya Mehta, M.D., is a board-certified ophthalmologist specializing in cataract surgery, oculoplastic surgery, and retinal conditions. He began his education at the United States Military Academy in West Point, NY, and earned a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from the University of New Mexico. Dr. Mehta went on to complete his medical degree at the University of New Mexico School of Medicine, followed by an ophthalmology residency at San Antonio Military Medical Center, where he served as Chief Resident.

 

Dr. Mehta has held prominent roles throughout his career, including serving as Chief of Clinic at the Warfighter Refractive Eye Center at William Beaumont Army Medical Center, where he performed thousands of refractive and cataract eye surgeries. He has also been a Clinical Instructor at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center, mentoring and supervising residents in complex facial and orbital trauma repairs.

 

Before joining Kentucky Eye Institute, Dr. Mehta served as an Adult and Pediatric Level One Ocular Trauma Consultant at University Medical Center of El Paso and Children’s Hospital of El Paso. His dedication to global healthcare includes doing medical missions in Panama, Guyana and providing ophthalmic care for U.S. troops and coalition forces during military deployment to Iraq and Kuwait.

 

Beyond his clinical practice, Dr. Mehta is a published researcher and has received numerous accolades, including the Distinguished Cadet Award, the Army Health Professions Scholarship Award, the Kenneth Peist Award for Excellence in Oculoplastic Research, the Distinguished Professor with Excellence in Teaching Award, and the Army Achievement Medal with Combat Designation.

 

Dr. Mehta is licensed to practice medicine in Kentucky, Texas, and New Mexico. He is an active member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, and the Society of Military Ophthalmologists. During his free time, Dr. Mehta enjoys hiking and rock climbing with his wife and daughter.
