David Lloyd Greenburg, MD, MPH, is a comprehensive ophthalmologist with more than two decades of experience as an active duty US Army Officer. He performs a wide range of procedures including cataract surgery, LASIK and PRK, implantable collamer lens insertion, pterygium excision, blepharoplasty, ectropion repair, YAG capsulotomy, selective laser trabeculoplasty, laser retinopexy and intraocular injections.
Dr. Greenburg began his medical career as an American Board of Internal Medicine–certified internist. He completed residency at Walter Reed Army Medical Center. He served as a primary care physician, hospitalist, medical educator and researcher. He deployed to Forward Operating Bases in Afghanistan with the 101ST Airborne Division and 25th Infantry Division. He was awarded a Bronze Star and the Combat Medical Badge for rendering medical care to wounded Soldiers while under fire. Later he completed ophthalmology training at Walter Reed and served in multiple leadership roles within the Army. Among his proudest memories is his participation on a Defense Prisoner of War/Missing in Action mission to Laos which helped repatriate remains of three Airmen lost during the Vietnam War.
Dr. Greenburg earned his Doctor of Medicine from Emory University School of Medicine, a Master of Public Health from Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences and a bachelor’s degree in biopsychology from Transylvania University. He has also held academic faculty appointments in medicine, surgery and ophthalmology training programs at the Uniformed Services University of Health Science and University of North Carolina Chapel Hill.
Dr. Greenburg sees patients at Kentucky Eye Institute’s Lexington and Maysville locations.
