William J. Curtis, M.D.

William (Bill) Curtis, M.D. is a board-certified ophthalmologist, with specialization in cataract/implant surgery. Born and raised in Frederick, Maryland, he has performed over 25,000 procedures throughout his career. Dr. Curtis earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Maryland before receiving the United States Army Health Professions Scholarship to attend Georgetown University School of Medicine in Washington, D.C. 

After completing his medical training, Dr. Curtis was placed on active duty and stationed at Tripler Army Medical Center in Honolulu, Hawaii, where he completed his transitional internship.

Dr. Curtis was then stationed in Germany, where he served as the surgeon for the First Brigade of the Third Armored Division, the largest tank brigade in Europe. He proudly served as a combat surgeon in Kuwait and Iraq during Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm.

Following his military service, Dr. Curtis returned to the United States to complete his ophthalmology residency at the prestigious Center for Sight at Georgetown University. He was selected for a fellowship in advanced cataract surgery at the Kentucky Eye Institute.

Dr. Curtis has practiced at the Kentucky Eye Institute since 1995, specializing in cataract and implant surgery. He has been consistently named one of America’s Top Ophthalmologists by the Consumer Research Council of America. Dr. Curtis is a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and a board-certified Diplomat of the American Board of Ophthalmology.

In his free time, Dr. Curtis enjoys traveling with his family, performing live music, and competing in open-water swimming competitions.
